Embellished Paper Mache Letters
Assignment: For this assignment you will be construction a three-dimensional letter of the first letter of your first or last name. The letter will then be decorated and embellished with things about yourself, ie. hobbies, likes, etc. Look at some of the examples below for inspiration.
Procedure:
Part 1 Building your Letter:

Letters with holes in them can be a bit tricky to line up, do the best you can and we can fix and fill with paper mache as needed.
Part 2: Paper Mache
Note:
You want to make the paper mache job as smooth as possible, try not to get any creases
Part 1 Building your Letter:
- Choose a font type for your letter (using Microsoft word or the internet
- Draw your letter on cardboard LARGE (about 16 to 20 inches)
- Cut out of cardboard using scissors or and exacto knife
- Trace the cut out letter on another piece of cardboard and cut it out, making two of the same letter (front and back)
- Using a ruler, draw and cut 3 inch strips of cardboard to use as the sides of your letter
- Using a hot glue gun assemble your letter starting with the sides and then placing the top on.
- Seal any openings between cardboard with hot glue.

Part 2: Paper Mache
- Cut brown paper towel in to 2 inch strips
- Using a mixture of paste and water, dip the paper towel into the mixture and use your pointer and ring finger to "squidgy" the excess paste off the paper towel
- Apply paper to letter allowing at least one layer thick of paper mache
